I have to change this it I want to multitrack in Pro Tools or something but that’s fine. So I learned to turn channel 1 and 2 under the USB send panel to LR L / LR R and I can record a stereo mixdown fine in audacity. One strange thing has popped up and I haven’t seen a solution through searching, though searches here did help me with my initial questions when it came to the USB stereo mixdown / main out (which shows as “Line (Qu-16)” under inputs to PC), as I originally didn’t quite get why I could multitrack in a DAW but not get a simple mix in Audacity. Definitely has been a steep learning curve switching to such a far more capable digital mixer, but I’m getting the hang of it and able to fulfill a lot of functions that were difficult or impossible on the Zed. The USB drive is a Samsung MUF-32BA/AM – a USB3.0, 32GB flash drive, rated at a write speed of 150MB/s, way faster than required. The USB is always freshly formatted by the C3500 before a recording is started. It sounds as though the audio is jumping around, as though some internal buffers are being sent out of sequence by the C3500 for recording to the USB, or perhaps sent more than once. In others it occurs 2 or 3 times during an hour long recording. The glitch is heard at approx 8.4 seconds in the attached file, and another glitch at approximately 10 seconds. mp3 excerpt of an example glitch that occurred 13 minutes into an hour long choral recording at our church. So it would seem the problem is in the USB recording itself and not in the post/editing process. I’ve imported glitched files from USB into various audio and video players / editors on both Mac and PC (VLC, Audacity, Davinci Resolve, Final Cut) and the glitches are always evident in recordings that contain the glitches. The problem is intermittent and not easy to reproduce.
